Everything from how to join a community, how to book a culture house or a sports facility, or how to use the libraries. The Culture, Leisure, and Citizen Services Administration can tell you a lot about what Copenhagen has to offer when it comes to culture and leisure activities. 

Libraries (Biblioteker)

Copenhagen’s 20 libraries are not just full of books and learning, they are also home to events, clubs, workshops, and activities for all ages - and with a free membership you can access it all.

In the Culture & Leisure Zone, you can get help setting up your own library account or simply learn more about the many different offers you can find in the libraries such as reading clubs, children’s activities, and social events.

Culture Houses (Kulturhuse)

Culture houses are public community spaces found in neighbourhoods all over Copenhagen. Each culture house is a little different - some host concerts and exhibitions, others offer kitchen labs, art studios, open mics, or quiet corners for co-working. What all culture houses share is a focus on community and creativity.

In the Culture & Leisure Zone, you will be able to learn about what culture houses have to offer and how you can stay up to date on activities that interest you. You can also meet Børnekulturhus Ama’r (Ama’r Children’s Culture House) offering a creative activity for children and the team behind podcast The Danish Connection,  sharing why English news are vital for navigating life in Denmark while also interviewing attendees about their experiences.

Museums (Museer)

Copenhagen is packed with museums and galleries that host many activities and events in addition to exhibitions. These include guided tours, historical walks, happenings, and debates. Here, you have a great opportunity to discover new interests while learning about Copenhagen, Danish culture, and the country’s history.

In the Culture & Leisure Zone, you will be able to learn more about hear Københavns Museum (The Museum of Copenhagen) as well as the city’s other museums, meet an archeologist from the Archeologic Workshop and join a drawing workshop for children.

Sports (Idræt)

Copenhageners are known for their active lifestyle and it’s easy for you to join in. You can do so as a member of a sports’ club or association as well as through self-organised activities. Each neighbourhood in Copenhagen has several sports and leisure centres offering facilities that you can book for a small registration fee. In addition, there are many outdoor facilities that you can use free of charge, from skate parks over harbour baths to outdoor fitness facilities.

'Folkeoplysning'

Copenhagen has more than 1.000 clubs that spans over sports club, creative communities, culture clubs, music groups, scouts and much more. Department of ”Folkeoplysning” is in contact with all of these clubs as the department administrates financial support, lending of public facilities and approval of new clubs in Copenhagen. Meet the employees of Folkeoplysning and get help to find a community that shares your hobby – or can introduce you to a whole new hobby.

In the Culture & Leisure Zone, you can get help finding a sports association based on your interests, learn about the city’s sports facilities and how you can book them.
