The Story of Copenhagen: Past, Present & Future

Join Trine Halle, Curator at the Museum of Copenhagen for a talk about what Copenhagen used to be, and how the city has developed into the place we know today.

The talk takes you back to Copenhagen in the 1960s, 70s and 80s, when the city looked very different from today. Many areas were marked by worn-down housing, busy traffic, industrial harbour spaces and backyards that were part of everyday life for children and families.

You will hear how urban renewal, new housing, changing neighbourhoods and the transformation of the harbour gradually reshaped the city. The talk also offers a glimpse into everyday life in Copenhagen before cafés, cycle bridges and harbour baths became part of the city’s identity.

Through historical perspectives and visual examples, the Museum of Copenhagen will show how Copenhagen’s past still shapes the city today, and invite you to see familiar streets, buildings and neighbourhoods with new eyes.
