Renting in Denmark: Rights, Rules & Rent Control

The Danish housing market can be complex – especially if you're new to the country. 

In this talk, Martha Krog Petersen from the Rent Control Board in Copenhagen, an independent public board that handles disputes between tenants and landlords, and Emilie Horn Andersen, Legal Assistant at Winsløw Advokatpartnerselskab, will give you a thorough introduction to your rights and obligations as a tenant and a landlord in Denmark. 

You will learn what your rights and responsibilities are as a tenant and a landlord, what to look out for in a rental contract, what to consider before signing a lease and when and how to contact the Rent Control Board or the Housing Court if you experience problems with your rental home. 

You will also hear about common pitfalls when renting in Denmark, such as unclear contract terms, high deposits, maintenance responsibilities and what to do if there is a disagreement with your landlord or tenant.

This talk will help you make informed choices on the house market and avoid common pitfalls on the rental market in Denmark.
